AS A RESULT and AS A RESULT OF

Chỉ thêm hay bỏ đi mỗi chữ "OF" thôi nhưng nghĩa của 2 cụm từ này khác nhau hoàn toàn đó.

a. As a result (+ clause) = therefore
Eg: Bill had not been working very hard during the course. As a result, he failed the exams. 

(Bill had not been working very hard during the course. Therefore, he failed the exams)

b. As a result of (+ noun phrase/ V-ing) = because of
Eg: Bill failed the exams as a result of his not having been working very hard during the course 

(Bill failed the exams because of his not having been working very hard during the course)
